Darren on the power of #songwriting to keep people together despite the barrier of prison walls… #PrisonMusicWeek #MusicInPrisons #JanJailJam #PrisonMusicWeek 🎸 #MusicInPrisons participant talking about the impact of #makingmusic & the learning curve from working intensively on #original music, showing people how much they are capable of achieving when they believe in themselves & are given #creative opportunities #JanJailJam This week the team is bringing #MakingTracks to sunny #Bristol! We worked with young people from Bristol in partnership with @princestrust online during #lockdown, but this is our first in-person project collaboration there and it’s going brilliantly! So far 5 original songs have been written, including an epic heavy metal number 🎸 Later this month it’s #PrisonMusicWeek - our friends #BeatingTime have rallied together some wonderful organisations to celebrate the powerful positive impact of making #MusicInPrisons, including @good_vibrations_charity @changingtunes @findingrhythms @libertychoiruk @singinside and #PrisonChoirProject - make sure to give them all a follow and from 23rd January your social feeds will be full of wonderful things! Thanks @afterprisonpod for bringing sunshine to January by sharing this joyful performance by #SoundingOut musician @lukemccarthymusic ⭐️ Yesterday we enjoyed an ITT festive team outing to @koestlerarts magnificent #Freedom exhibition @southbankcentre - with insights from superb tour guide Benjamin (who also happens to be one of our #SoundingOut musicians!) #Throwback to the brilliant @noble1bof performing for our online 25th birthday celebrations in 2020 - full show is on our YouTube channel Some beautiful feedback from a recent #MusicinPrisons project: ICYMI: We first met talented drill-fusion artist @macelino__ on a #MakingTracks project; subsequently he joined our #YoungProducers scheme & is now one of our @aceagrams funded #EmergingArtists. Hear how #makingmusic has developed his self-confidence, wellbeing & aspirations to help other young people in turn in this beautiful showcase film by @insidejob_productions
