Feel the positivity cover

Making Tracks online

At the start of the pandemic, rather than completely closing up, we decided to find ways to adapt our projects while restrictions were in place.

Moving our Making Tracks projects online has been a great success. Over the last year we’ve run 7 online projects and 2 adapted in-person covid-safe projects, with partners The Prince’s Trust, Newham YOT and SPEAR London.

“You learn about music and you learn something about yourself too,” Making Tracks participant

“I’ve gained so much confidence and feel more open to speaking to people I don’t know too well,” Making Tracks participant

We’ve also worked online with former Making Tracks participants to achieve Silver Arts Awards and on projects for our 25th Anniversary Celebrations and Black Lives Matter collaboration.

Making Tracks: new album ‘Moments’

In March 2018 a group of young people took part in Making Tracks, formed the band ‘Trustees’ and together created a set of songs written from their own perspectives and life experiences for the album ‘Moments’, as well as producing their own radio show ‘New Era on UA Radio’.

This album includes live recordings from the performance at Croydon Hive.

Making Tracks is a programme developed by the Irene Taylor Trust to positively engage young people in the community by providing enriching creative opportunities. This project was run in partnership with The Prince’s Trust’s Get Started programme.

More info about The Prince’s Trust’s Get Started programme is here.

Making Tracks: Food for Thought album

In February 2018 a group of young people from Lewisham YOS took part in Making Tracks, formed the band ‘Undecided (At The Lounge)’ and together produced a set of songs written from their own perspectives and life experiences for the album ‘Food for Thought’, available to listen to now:

Making Tracks band get ‘creative’ with album ‘Unfinished Symphony’

The 10th group to take part in a Making Tracks project formed the band ‘Creative Minds’ in March. Together they wrote a set of five new original songs over the course of a week and performed them live at St Mark’s Church, Kennington. After this they continued to work together on new songs at follow-on sessions and recorded three of them at Brixton Hill Studios.

Now we proudly present to you their stunning album ‘Unfinished Symphony’ – bringing together the live and studio recordings. We think you’ll be impressed!

If you enjoyed listening to these songs, why not join us for the next Making Tracks gig when we visit East London for the first time in May? Details here.
